A customer left a college prospectus on the bar where she worked, and as she perused its contents, a massage therapy course caught her attention. Enrolling in the course ignited Andrea's passion for learning, fostering connections with people, and delivering exceptional beauty services.

Without loans or external aid, Andrea's business emerged from sheer hard work and unwavering determination. From the humble beginnings of working out of her living room, she expanded her skills, eventually obtaining a teaching qualification.Today, Andrea operates from her home salon in South Reading, having influenced the journeys of hundreds of students in the art of beauty treatments.

Let’s start with the wins:
✨ Monday was spent having an admin and bonding day with my eldest, Mia. She went up to a staff member and asked for something on her own. If you know Mia, you’ll know how massive this is!
✨ I welcomed a new client who’s starting their skin journey—it’s always exciting to help someone take that first step.
✨ Another new client signed up for a VIP membership—so happy to have them on board!
✨ My soon-to-be employee completed her trade test with flying colors. It’s so exciting to see things coming together!
✨ Marnie managed 10 skips in a row at boxing this week! Four weeks ago, she couldn’t do even one!
✨ Flights to Marbella are officially booked for a business retreat—I’m ready to learn, grow, and recharge in the sun!

Now, for the not-so-great moments:
😴 Sleep has been almost nonexistent this week—I’m running on empty.
⏰ Even with 5 a.m. starts, I’ve only just been getting the kids to school on time.
🎥 The cinema trip with the younger two was absolute chaos—endless toilet trips, popcorn everywhere, and a lady even spilled her tea on Renzo and the floor in front of us.

If you’re new here, welcome! I thought I’d introduce myself and share a bit of my journey as I’ve had a lot of new followers recently 💕

I started my beauty business at 19, as a single mum working in a pub. I had no financial help, but I was determined to create something more for myself and my daughter. I started small, working from my living room while she watched tv and I would buy one product at a time.

Fast forward 14 years, I now run a beautiful home salon in Reading, offering:

Balancing my business while being a mum of 3 (and stepmum to 1) hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been so worth it. I absolutely love holidays and exploring new places with my friends and family. The freedom of being my own boss means I can take a spa day on a random Monday or make it to every one of my kids’ activities.

Helping clients feel amazing and mentoring students to start their own businesses gives me a buzz like no other. I’m always learning, growing, and finding new ways to make every experience better!

Do you think it’s a waste of money? I used to hear and think this all the time. I thought I should spend all my time and energy making sure everyone else was okay—whether it was family, friends, or work—and put myself last every single time.

It’s not that bad and I’m very gentle 😉

Or so I’ve been told 🙌

When I was younger I would dance in front of 100s of people on stage and to anyone that would watch. My mum said I must have a radio in my head because I wouldn’t stop dancing!

Somewhere along the way and probably because I got bullied, I lost that confidence and would be physically sick at the thought of doing a drama class in secondary school. I would bunk, walk out of school, anything but go to the class🤢

It’s taken me until my 30s to get that “couldn’t give a shit” confidence back and it’s not going anywhere ✌️

Being a teen mum pushed me into uncomfortable situations which helped me grow but what really changed my life was taking a lash course. It gave me control of my life again 🙌

This is why I became a trainer, to help others build a successful life and get their confidence back!

Running a business isn’t a walk in the park but the pros outweigh the cons and I would urge anyone else to do the same!
